Where to Visit for Your 4-Day Singapore Itinerary
Day 1: Discover Singapore’s Colonial Heritage

Start your Singapore sojourn on Day One by revisiting its colonial heritage.
Looking at the buzzing Singapore cityscape, it is hard to imagine Singapore as anything but a gleaming modern city. But the island city had humble beginnings as a British colony in the 19th century. A great place to learn about a pivotal part of Singapore's history is Fort Canning, which bore witness to Singapore's historical milestones.
The hill served as the headquarters of the Far East Command Centre and British Army Barracks. It was here that Singapore surrendered to the Japanese on 15 February 1942.
Sign up for the Battlebox Story of Singapore Tour to gain an insight into the days leading up to the surrender, complete with wax figures of the British army depicting the trying days during this period.
Follow this educational outing with a Walk Back in Time tour to trace the steps of Singapore's founders and pioneers. This guided tour starts at the Singapore River, where you begin your journey from the colonial days, the days of turmoil, war, development, and progress. The 4-hour walking tour covers Marina Bay, the Civic District and historical monuments, CHIJMES, St. Andrew's Cathedral and ends at Raffles Hotel.

Day 2: Visit Singapore’s Top Museums
Continue your exploration of Singapore’s unique heritage and culture by visiting its vibrant museums. Each cultural institution may take you anywhere from two to three hours to visit, depending on how much information you wish to absorb.
Start at the National Gallery Singapore, the largest visual arts venue and museum in Singapore with the largest collection of Southeast Asian artworks in the world. Housed in the former Supreme Court Building and City Hall, the gallery is home to over 8,000 19th-century, modern and contemporary Singapore and Southeast Asian art pieces.
Nearby is the National Museum of Singapore, Singapore’s oldest museum, which dates back to the 1800s. Housed in a massive 19th-century colonial structure, it takes you on an immersive voyage of Singapore’s unique history, told through artefacts, artworks, media clipping as well as multimedia displays.
Next, move on to the Asian Civilisations Museum, which showcases over 5,000 years of Asian cultures across the entire Asian subcontinent — from West Asia (the Middle East), South Asia, to Southeast Asia and East Asia (China). As you peruse the museum’s exhibits, you will gain an excellent insight into Singapore’s heritage as a port city of trade. A major attraction here are the shipwrecked ceramics and other artefacts unearthed from a Tang Dynasty era ship that sank over ten centuries ago.

Day 3: Explore Singapore’s Top Ethnic Precincts
On the third day, put on your walking shoes to experience Singapore’s living multicultural heritage. The best places to do so are the city’s ethnic neighbourhoods.
First up is Chinatown, beside PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering, Singapore, with its mix of Buddhist and Hindu temples, heritage shophouses, fragrant food stalls, and traditional souvenirs. Walk along Pagoda Street, Smith Street, and Temple Street in Chinatown to admire the precinct’s pre-war architecture while reveling in the joyous atmosphere.

Next pay a visit to Kampong Glam, located close to Pan Pacific Serviced Suites, Beach Road, PARKROYAL Serviced Suites and PARKROYAL on Beach Road. Once a thriving Arab Muslim community in the 1800s, it is today a melting pot of tradition and modernity.
Here heritage buildings like the majestic Sultan Mosque stand shoulder-to-shoulder with hipster-friendly cafes and eye-popping street art. Shop for traditional batik wear and charming jewellery along the streets before resting your feet at one of the many enchanting cafes in the area.
The last ethnic enclave to visit is the energetic Little India. Located just 10 minutes drive away from PARKROYAL on Beach Road, this colourful and charming neighbourhood showcases the best of Singapore's diverse Indian community. With stunning temples, mouth-watering Indian cuisines, and kaleidoscopic shops selling spices, garlands, saris, and jewellery, this lively district embraces you the moment you enter.

The Perfect 4-Day Thematic Itinerary for Singapore

On your final day, take a deep breath of fresh air in Singapore’s green sanctuaries. Yes, the city may be tiny, but it does live up to its reputation of being a “city in a garden”.
Gear up for a walk along the Southern Ridges, a leafy 10-kilometre stretch from Hort park that connects some of Singapore's most beautiful green spaces. They include the picturesque Mount Faber Park, tranquil Telok Blangah Hill, and sea-facing Labrador Nature Reserve.
The highlight of this stretch? Henderson Waves, a pedestrian bridge designed in an avant-garde wave-like form suspended 36 metres off the ground. The uniquely-designed bridge was even featured in the futuristic movie—The Equals, starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult.
Nature lovers cannot leave Singapore without visiting the famous Singapore Botanic Gardens, Singapore's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Home to a spectacular collection of tropical flora and fauna set in a curated verdant garden, one of the must-visit spots here is the National Orchid Garden, where you can "rub shoulders" in the garden with some VIPs or Very Important Plants.
With the orchid (specifically Vanda Miss Joaquim) being Singapore's national flower, it has become a tradition for the park to create an orchid hybrid and name it after dignitaries and celebrities of note. Some famous orchid hybrids include the Vanda William Catherine, named after the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Paravanda Nelson Mandela, after the late former president of South Africa, and the Dendrobium Jackie Chan, after the famous action star. You may also be keen to know that the National Orchid Garden houses the most extensive orchid collection in the world— more than 1,000 species with over 2,000 hybrids on display.
Peckish after your nature adventure? Take a break at The Halia Restaurant in the Ginger Garden. Specialising in Western cuisine, you can enjoy a leisurely meal while admiring the greenery around you.
