Singapore Holidays: How To Celebrate New Year’s Eve In Style

The year has come and is almost gone. As you reflect upon the year’s highlights, remember to mark your calendar for the Pan Pacific Singapore team's best new year eve parties in Singapore.

If you relish cosy get-togethers with a few friends and loved ones, you can usher in the new year with a dazzling view of fireworks at the stroke of midnight, by booking a hotel room around the Marina Bay or Sentosa beach area.

And if community is what you seek, hit the streets and join forces with thousands of revellers at some of the country’s biggest and brightest countdown celebrations. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.

1. The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival

Billed as Singapore’s “biggest carnival,” the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival adds pizzazz to the city centre, with over 40 rides and games brought in from the UK, Italy, and Germany.

Thrill rides include The Star Flyer, a tower ride that provides a 360-degree view of Singapore’s skyline, and The Booster Maxx, a rotating ride that can reach a speed of 96 km/h in under eight seconds.

Food lovers will be in for a treat: take your pick of stalls serving up gastronomic delights such as gourmet burgers and buns, raclette (a Swiss dish of melted cheese), and lemongrass chicken rice bowls. On weekends, carnival-goers can look forward to performances by rising local acts.

The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival runs from 22 December 2018 to 24 March 2019 (closed on 18 January 2019). Opening hours are from 4:00pm to 11:00pm daily, and from 4:00pm to 2:00am on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Admission to the carnival is free, but there may be restricted entry on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve to maintain crowd control.

2. Picnic & Fireworks Viewing @ The Float

For a front-row viewing experience of the the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2019, book your spot at The Float at Marina Bay (also known as the Marina Bay Floating Platform). Pack a picnic basket and enough party entertainment to sustain you and your companions till the midnight hour. You can also enjoy food and drinks at the event’s artisanal marketplace.

This year's countdown celebration is called "Star Island -- Journey to a Parallel Universe" and features Taiko performers, Japanese kamuri fireworks, projection mapping, and special effects.

Tickets are available online for from S$30-S$62 per head (early bird rates).

3. Countdown At The Civic District

Indulge your love for the arts at the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2019, which will host free events such as carnival rides, outdoor performances, and floral displays at Gardens by the Bay into the new year.

In between activities, you can explore the region’s cultural and artistic treasures at the National Gallery Singapore or the Asian Civilisations Museum in the civic district.

4. Beach Parties @ Sentosa

In its 12th year, the 2018 New Year's Eve Siloso Beach Party on Sentosa Island is staying true to its hit formula—foam, fireworks, and “unfettered fun” to the beat of adrenaline-pumping music delivered by international and local DJs. This year’s headlining act is Jay Hardway, a drummer and producer from Holland. DJs Kaylova, DJ Youkeep, DJ Xin and other big names will join in the festivities.

For a family-friendly beach gathering, head to the New Year’s Eve Beach BBQ, jointly organised by Coastes Singapore and Sand Bar. Together with loved ones, feast on freshly grilled seafood, succulent meats, and sweet treats while basking in the rustic charm and casual beach vibe of both bars.

5. LAVO Singapore’s NYE/Grand Opening Bash

LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar is counting on its “vibe dining” concept—decadent food paired with non-stop drinks and dancing—to draw crowds, and hopefully become “one of the must-see places in Singapore.” Its highlight on New Year's Eve 2018 is billed as Midnight Royale, starting at 10:00pm on 31 December 2018 till late. Guest DJ Mel Debarce graces the occasion, with views of the Marina Bay Countdown fireworks, free flow of wine and champagne, and an Italian buffet spread featuring LAVO's signature meatball dish.
