2. Dine like a Star at Capitol Theatre and Capitol Piazza
Address: 11 Stamford Road, Singapore 178884
Opening hours: Various hours
Telephone: +65 6499 5168
Originally built in 1933 by M. A. Namazie in a neoclassical style, Capitol Theatre was one of Singapore’s earliest movie theatres. After the cinema ceased operations in 1998, the building was redeveloped and reopened as part of Capitol Piazza shopping and theatre complex in recent years.
Now both a cinema and performance venue, the adjacent mall’s open piazza is a central and classy spot for people-watching and dining with friends. If you are there on movie gala nights, you might notice the venue’s rotational floor system that customises seating for various performance types, and state-of-the-art sound and visual facilities.
3. Immerse in Baba Culture on Friday Evenings at the Peranakan Museum

Opening hours: Saturday to Thursday, 10:00am to 7:00pm;
Friday, 10:00am to 9:00pm

On Friday evenings, the Peranakan Museum is open late till 9:00pm. A tribute to the exquisite and extravagant lifestyles of affluent Southeast Asian Peranakan communities, the museum is housed in the former Tao Nan Chinese School built in 1912, covering three floors of intimate gallery space.
With models of Peranakan home layouts and furnishing and personal clothing and jewellery on display, you will feel as though you are visiting a historical home of a rich Baba (Peranakan man) and Nonya (Peranakan lady).
Look out for its displays of intricate and finely filigreed hand-sewn needlework and embroidery; few artisans are able to carry out this labour-intensive process today.
4. Take an Evening Stroll Through Ann Siang Hill Park
Address: 78 Club St, Singapore 069447
Opening hours: Open 24 hours daily
Ann Siang Hill Park is a surprisingly quiet patch of green near the busy Chinatown and Telok Ayer downtown enclaves. Named after the landowner Chia Ann Siang, it used to be near a Cantonese burial ground and a Malay school.
A short stroll away from the park is the Thian Hock Keng temple. A national monument which received an honourable mention in the UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards, the temple is situated on Telok Ayer Street near the Amoy Street side lane uphill entrance to the park beside Telok Ayer Green.
The park is an ideal spot to walk off those extra calories you may have put on at the nearby array of Korean and Japanese restaurants. Or you can head to nearby popular cocktail bars such as Employees Only, Bitters and Love, and The Spiffy Dapper lining Amoy and Telok Ayer streets.
5. Chomp on Hawker Food at Newton Food Centre
Address: 500 Clemenceau Avenue North, Singapore 229495
Hours: Noon to 2:00am daily
A landmark of Singapore’s unique hawker heritage, Newton Food Centre was renovated in 2016 and back in business.
Frequented by office workers during lunch hour as well as tourists at night, Newton Food Centre offers a Singapore style smorgasbord of local culinary delights. Politely decline any touts, and carefully watch your seafood orders being weighed to ensure a fair price. Grilled squid, fried oyster omelette, popiah (spring rolls), and Singapore-style carrot cake are among locals’ greasy favourites.
Open-air free seating is available for patrons of over 80 stalls. Unlike many CBD food centres, Newton gets livelier in the evenings as tourists and patrons from nearby residences drop by for their favourite local fare. Pace yourself and wash your meal down with a refreshing glass of sugarcane juice to round off a tasty evening!
Book your stay at Pan Pacific Singapore, and enjoy a complimentary upgrade and late checkout with direct bookings. Both locations enjoy close proximity to a host of late-night dining and shopping options!
