Commitment to Sustainability
Pan Pacific Melbourne is dedicated to leading sustainable hospitality, and implementing eco-friendly practices that resonate with an increasing interest in responsible travel. Through thoughtful energy-efficient systems, sustainable sourcing from local farms and innovative environmental programs, we create a mindful experience that not only enhances the travel experience, but also positively impacts the community and environment.
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond daily operations, as we continually seek new technologies and practices to advance our environmental initiatives and reduce our footprint. This pledge also involves actively engaging with our associates, guests, and business partners, inspiring them to join us in creating lasting positive change. By fostering awareness and collaboration, Pan Pacific Melbourne is paving the way toward a more sustainable future, both within our hotel and in the broader community.
Our Environment
We invite guests to join our towel and linen reuse program, which helps conserve water and minimise detergent use. We’ve installed water-saving showerheads to further reduce water use without compromising on comfort. We have also replaced all lights in the hotel with LED lighting and our offices and meeting spaces feature automated light sensors to reduce energy to reduce energy consumption.
We are replacing plastic coffee cups and containers with 100% biodegradable bamboo alternatives. Nearly all of our fresh produce arrives in eco-friendly cardboard, and plastic straws have been swapped for biodegradable ones.
To further our sustainability efforts, we have removed plastic water bottles from guest rooms to combat single-use plastic waste. Instead, we have installed a filtered water dispenser located in the lobby that provides cold, hot, and sparkling water, allowing guests to easily refill their reusable bottles.
Our People & Community
We prioritise sourcing local Australian products from suppliers that employ sustainable practices whenever possible. To view the list of sustainable suppliers we work with, please click here.
To support Scouts Victoria’s Youth Programs, we introduced CDS donation bins across our hotel for recycling eligible containers. Each container helps fund youth activities while enhancing our recycling efforts.
Led by our housekeeping team, the Soap Aid programme collects and repurposes used soap from guest rooms. These soaps are sanitised and crafted into new bars, which are then donated to communities in developing countries, helping to improve hygiene and reduce environmental waste.
Our Art
Pan Pacific Melbourne is proud to support and celebrate the work of local and international artists, showcasing pieces that bring a sense of place and history to our spaces. Our carefully curated art collection reflects Melbourne’s unique maritime heritage and cultural diversity, creating a visual narrative that enriches our surroundings.
The hotel features artworks by renowned artists, including Dani Marti, whose work is displayed in our lobby. These pieces are thoughtfully chosen to complement the environment, offering warmth, character, and a connection to the rich history of the South Wharf area.
Our commitment to art aligns with our dedication to sustainability and inclusivity. By collaborating with artists who bring unique perspectives and skills, we contribute to the growth of the creative community while fostering meaningful cultural connections.
