Living Legends
Visit Living Legends – The International Home of Rest for Racing Champions
Opened in 2006, Living Legends is a non-profit organisation that strives to reintegrate former racehorses into the public. Providing these retired champions with an expansive paddock and around-the-clock care, this unique nature reserve offers visitors the chance to meet the racing industry's gentle giants while enjoying the spectacular surrounds of Melbourne's hinterland.
Things to do at Living Legends
Not only a sanctuary for racecourse retirees, this remarkable 700-hectare nature reserve is also home to herds of wild kangaroos and an abundance of walking trails. Walk, cycle or birdwatch amidst the historic Woodland Homestead, or see kangaroos roam in their natural habitat in the Kangaroo and Parklands Area. Additionally, there will be daily guided tours at 11:00am and 2:00pm for a more educative and enjoyable experience.

Mount Buller
If it’s winter and you have a full day, the snowfields are just a few hours’ drive away from the city. Whether or not you have hit the slopes before, Mount Buller is the perfect place to start your snowy adventures. Comprising over 300 hectares Mt Buller consists of a ski resort, with 22 lifts able to move 40,000 people an hour.

Royal Botanic Gardens
An oasis on the city fringe, the Royal Botanic Gardens flaunts over 50,000 plants on 36 hectares of land and plays host to a myriad of special events, school holiday action and classes for the young and young at heart. Started in 1846 the botanic gardens feature a range of native and non Australian species. Guests can join an Observatory tour or kids tour held in the summer months.
